Grant Award: North Carolina Central University Awarded $1.5 Million Dollar Grant from The Innovative Project (TIP) for MSA Scholarships

North Carolina Central University Partners with QDI Global LLC to Secure Prestigious Grant Award

*Durham, NC – [9-7-2024] – North Carolina Central University (NCCU) is proud to announce a major achievement in its mission to support educational advancement. NCCU in collaboration with QDI Global LLC, has secured a $1.5 million-dollar grant from The Innovative Project (TIP). This grant, the result of a successful proposal written by Mr. Derek Cooper, Sr. Technology Consultant at QDI Global and Dr. Portia Gibbs Roseboro, MSA Program Director at NCCU, will provide scholarship funds to sponsor 16 students pursuing their Master of School Administration (MSA) degree at NCCU’s School of Education.

“With strong support, great teachers can become great principals. North Carolina Central University has been the perfect partner to help TIP build this program,” said Sharon Contreras, Ph.D., CEO of TIP. “The interview process was especially dynamic and illuminated those candidates with the potential to do the work our students need and deserve. I’m thrilled with the outcome, and I look forward to seeing these professionals advance in their careers and continue to serve in smaller districts.”

This funding from The Innovative Project represents a significant investment in the future of educational leadership. The grant will cover the full cost of tuition and associated fees for 16 deserving students, empowering them to pursue their MSA degrees without the burden of financial stress. This initiative is designed to cultivate the next generation of school administrators and leaders, reinforcing NCCU’s commitment to excellence in education and leadership development.
